Return of the V8 Engine
At the heart of every Porsche is its powerplant. The new Cayenne GTS models are equipped with a powerful 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine replacing the 3.6-litre V6 biturbo engine from its predecessor. With an output of 338 kW / 460 PS* (horsepower) and 620 Nm of torque, the Cayenne GTS delivers 14 kW / 20 PS* (horsepower) and 20 Nm more than its predecessor.
The new models benefit from a multitude of technological highlights of the V8 biturbo engine, such as direct fuel injection (DFI) with central injector position, adaptive cylinder shut off and thermal management, resulting in optimal driving efficiency and performance.
Both models accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds with the Sport Chrono package (optional on the Cayenne GTS and standard on the Cayenne GTS Coupé). This makes the 0 to 100km/h sprint in the Cayenne GTS an impressive 0.6 seconds faster than its predecessor with the Sport Chrono package. Top speed has also increased by eight km/h reaching 270 km/h.
Driving dynamics
Outstanding lateral dynamic driving characteristics set a benchmark for performance. The Cayenne GTS models feature a standard three-chamber adaptive air suspension, lowering the car by 10 millimeters and include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV) is also standard on the GTS models, ensuring optimal steering behavior and ideal traction when accelerating out of corners.
Optional technologies such as rear-axle steering, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) are available to further increase agile driving dynamics.
Emotional sound
The sports exhaust system, specifically designed for the new V8-powered GTS models, creates a highly emotive and powerful sound experience, a true highlight for GTS enthusiasts.
Both models include twin tailpipes in the left and right corners at the rear. The standard sports exhaust system has a modified, large-volume rear silencer and is a stand out from other Cayenne models because of the additional features that enhance the rich and sporty sound in the interior. This includes the targeted reduction of insulating material in the rear, allowing occupants to become immersed in the thrilling GTS aural experience.
The new centrally positioned sports exhaust system in combination with the Lightweight Sports Package is available to the Cayenne GTS Coupé and Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupé only.
The high-gloss oval tailpipes in black or silver are centrally positioned and differ fundamentally from the standard sports exhaust system. The two exhaust tracts of the cylinder banks remain separated from each other along their entire length and work together with continually adjustable flaps to create a unique soundscape.
The throaty V8 sound of this high-frequency tuned exhaust system is particularly noticeable when driving at higher speeds in SPORT or SPORT PLUS mode and when starting the engine.
Sporty appearance
The sporty and unique appearance of the Cayenne GTS models have been enhanced to position the cars as a sportscar in the SUV segment. Sleek and sophisticated accents in black are present with the standard Sport Design package.
Both models are equipped with standard black satin-gloss 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels, one inch larger than on the predecessor.
Further black accents include the tailpipes of the sports exhaust system, the Sport Design rear apron, front air intakes, side window trims and Porsche logos that reinforce the sporty design.
The standard LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and the rear light strip are dark-tinted to harmoniously tie in the elegant features on the Cayenne GTS.
The strong flyline of the Cayenne GTS Coupé dramatically enhances the sporty appeal with the sloping rear and adaptive extending rear spoiler with spoiler lip. In combination with a flatter A-pillar and windscreen and standard panoramic fixed glass roof, the Coupé blends an exclusive modern exterior to grant a bright and spacious feel in the interior.
Interior
On entry, the stainless steel door entry guards with model lettering make it immediately clear the models have an exclusive appeal. In combination with the black leather interior, the seat centres, centre console armrest, door armrests, roof lining and door mirrors feature in Alcantara® giving the models a luxurious look and feel. ‘GTS’ lettering is displayed on the front doors, door entry sills, front headrests, outer rear seats and analogue rev counter.
Standard eight- way sports seats contribute to dynamic cornering and are exclusive to the Cayenne GTS models.
For further exclusivity, the GTS interior package is available as an option. ‘GTS’ lettering on the front and outer rear headrests, decorative stitching on seats, centre console, dashboard and door and seatbelts are accented in either Carmine Red or Crayon adding a personalised touch.
