Porsche has been collaborating with the “Deutsche Tennis Bund” (DTB - German Tennis Association) as a Premium Partner since 2012. “The partnership with the German Tennis Association forms, together with the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, the core of Porsche’s activities in women’s tennis,” says Detlev von Platen, member of the Executive Board responsible for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG. “With this successful cooperation and the associated fostering of junior players, Porsche emphasises the sustainability of its commitment.”
The automotive manufacturer has been the sponsor of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix since 1978 and the organiser since 2002. Its cooperation with the DTB is divided up into three areas: the German women’s national team headed by Angelique Kerber is supported by Porsche as Porsche Team Germany in the Billie Jean King Cup. By forming the Porsche Talent Team, Porsche has transferred its successful junior programme from motorsport to tennis. The aim is to make the set-up for talented juniors more professional by enhancing individual coaching and guidance both when practicing and at tournaments. The third pillar of the engagement is the Porsche Junior Team, in which Porsche facilitates better training conditions and more intensive coaching at home for the talented youngsters.
Within the scope of the collaboration, there are also partnerships with the national tennis centres in Stuttgart-Stammheim (Württemberg Tennis Association) and Kamen (Westphalian Tennis Association).
