Wehrlein cut his teeth in karting. Success was not long in coming, and so he set about paving a route through various classes of single-seater racing to the pinnacle of motorsport.
Wehrlein made his debut in the ADAC Formula Masters in 2010 and won the title the following year. After second place in the 2012 Formula 3 Euro Series, he competed in touring car racing for the next few seasons. From 2013 to 2015, and in 2018, Wehrlein drove in the German Touring Car Masters (DTM), where he won three races in total. He made history as a 20-year-old in 2015 when he won the title to be crowned the youngest DTM champion of all time. In 2016 and 2017, Wehrlein also drove for Manor and Sauber in Formula 1. He has been racing in the fully-electric series since the 2018/19 season and has contested 17 races so far. He has scored 72 points, secured one pole position and finished runner-up to make it onto the podium at the Santiago E-Prix in his rookie season, 2018/19. Wehrlein races for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team in the 2020/21 season.
