MIAMI. Championship leader Tyler Maxson finished second on track but was elevated to the race win after post-race penalties in Round 3 at the Miami Grand Prix.
Originally planned as a typical two-race weekend, a forecast for inclement weather led the Formula 1 race to start three hours earlier than originally planned. The earlier start prevented the second Carrera Cup race from taking place.
TOPP Racing’s Maxson initially crossed finish line as the second type 992.2 Porsche 911 Cup behind JDX Racing’s Callum Hedge, who was one of five drivers to be awarded a post-race 28-second penalty - the equivalent of an in-race drive-through penalty - for “causing a collision.”
The win for Maxson extends his championship points advantage despite the fact he was caught up in an opening lap incident in turn one at the Miami International Autodrome that pushed him toward the rear of the 20-car field.
Maxson passed fellow Porsche Motorsport North America Junior Program racer Paul Bocuse (Kellymoss) with five minutes remaining, and the latter finished second for his best-ever finish in Porsche Carrera Cup North America.
Jared Thomas of JTR Motorsports Engineering took the final podium spot, despite being spun mid-race at the Miami “Harbor” turn following contact. Hedge was scored ninth overall following his penalty.
Patrick Mulcahy was caught up in the opening lap chaos while searching for his fifth consecutive Solairus Aviation Pro-Am Class win of the season.
The ACI Motorsports driver marched back to the class lead around competitor Josh Conley (Kellymoss) just before the halfway mark to extend his lead in the class championship.
Scott Blind made significant ground in the Solairus Aviation Masters class championship with a win on Saturday at the Miami street circuit. Blind finished 10th overall with his Ruckus Racing Porsche and earned his first win of the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season.
Blind entered the event third in the class standings behind leader Marco Cirone (ACI Motorsports). Cirone was in second place with 15 minutes to go when a spin took him out of contention, leaving Kevin Stadlander (JDX Racing) and series debutante Matt Smith (ACI Motorsports) in second and third, respectively.

Sunday’s Porsche Carrera Cup North America race at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix was cancelled after officials moved the Formula 1 race start time forward due to the threat of severe weather. The next round of Porsche Carrera Cup North America is scheduled for Watkins Glen International from June 25 to 27. Details regarding a potential make-up race will be announced at a later date.

Maxson’s win, coupled with Aaron Jeansonne’s early exit in the opening lap contact, gives Maxson a 30-point advantage, holding a 109 to 79 point lead in the standings, with Hedge third at 73. The runner-up finish moved Bocuse from ninth in the points to fifth, just three points behind fourth-place Jared Thomas.
