The two-hour, 40-minute IMSA WeatherTech Championship sprint race ended with an energy-saving stint that the Porsche 911 GT3 Rs of AO Racing and Wright Motorsports both ran to perfection.
AO Racing’s No. 77 “Rexy” and its British co-drivers, Harry King and Nick Tandy, started seventh on the grid after struggling for pace in qualifying. The two drivers steadily moved forward, beginning with King in the early stages. Tandy exited the final pit stop with 65 minutes remaining in the race in second place, and managed fuel, pace and traffic to keep the position at the finish.
In the GTD category, Wright Motorsports and drivers Adam Adelson (USA) and Callum Ilott (GBR) rebounded from practice-day challenges to earn a ninth-place finish. Heavy impact with the tire barriers during practice nearly ended the weekend on Friday for Wright Motorsports.
The team worked through the night to repair the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R in time for Saturday’s Practice 2 and for Adelson to qualify 10th in class. The duo ran without significant incidents the entire race to finish ninth in class.
Tandy and King continue to hold the fifth position in the season-long GTD Pro point standings, while Adelson and Ilott remain sixth in the GTD class.
The GTP class Prototypes return for the eighth round of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Road America for a six-hour endurance race, July 31 – August 2. That race is part of the Michelin Endurance Cup for the first time in 2026, which Porsche leads in the GTP class.
Another podium for customer teams though the weekend
Both the Michelin Pilot Challenge and the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge were in action at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park as well.
Justin Di Benedetto of Di Benedetto racing scored a podium finish with his Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport on Sunday morning, following up his fifth-place finish in Saturday’s 45-minute sprint race.
Morgan Burkhard and Gordon Scully of CSM finished ninth in Saturday’s two-hour Michelin Pilot Challenge race, best of all Porsches in the field. The duo are currently ninth in the championship standings.

Drivers’ comments on the race
Harry King (Porsche 911 GT3 R #77): “I had a great time out there. It was a nice single-stint to start the race and I made up a few places. I managed to hand over the car to my teammate, Nick Tandy. It was all positive.”
Nick Tandy (Porsche 911 GT3 R #77): “It was a great race. The car was really good. The team did such a mega job giving us a great car. We made up track position during the pit stop and had a great race with the No. 1 Paul Miller car. To get our third podium of the season, it’s been a little bit of time since Laguna Seca. I’m really happy.”
