Watkins Glen, N.Y. A spectacular pit strategy led to a one-two finish for Porsche 911 GT3 R customer teams in the GTD class and a third-place finish for the JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963 in the GTP class and overall.
Manthey and Wright Motorsports played the strategy game perfectly, emerging at the top of the GTD field with 15 minutes to go when competitors running low on fuel made their final pit stops. Manthey’s No. 912 Porsche 911 GT3 R of Riccardo Pera, Richard Lietz and American Ryan Hardwick crossed the finish line just in front of the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche of Adam Adelson, Callum Ilott and Porsche Motorsport North America Selected Driver Tom Sargent after six hours of racing.
JDC-Miller Motorsports driver Lauren Heinrich and co-drivers Tijmen van der Helm and Kaylen Frederick led the way for Porsche in the GTP class and overall. The team overcame an early penalty that sent them a lap down, rebounding for their second podium finish of the season. The pair of factory Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963s finished fifth and and sixth.
The JDC-Miller MotorSports podium keeps Heinrich second in the Driver championship and Porsche second in the the Manufacturer Championship.
