Six Separate Drivers Take Porsche Carrera Cup North America Wins at Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen. The milestone fifth season of Porsche Carrera Cup North America reached the halfway point following the checkered flag at Watkins Glen on Saturday, with a familiar face and a returning young gun each taking an overall victory during the doubleheader weekend. Riley Dickinson (New Braunfels, Texas) and Canada’s Zachary Vanier earned wins in the Exxon Mobil Pro Class for Kellymoss and JDX Racing, respectively. Alan Metni (Austin, Texas) and JP Martinez (Miami, Florida) split the Solairus Pro-Am class, while Scott Blind (Fenton, Missouri) and Todd Parriott (Las Vegas, Nevada) shared Solairus Masters class honors.

Race 1. Friday. June 20, 2025.

Riley Dickinson’s first three wins of the season came from the front row of the grid. On Friday at Watkins Glen, the New Braunfels, Texas native and series point leader proved he can win from deeper in the field.

Dickinson started his No. 91 Kellymoss Porsche 911 GT3 Cup third on Saturday, moving to second in the opening corners around ACI Motorsports’ Jimmy Llibre with a quick run through the esses and into the bus stop. That left only leader and polesitter Ryan Yardley in his windscreen.

It took just one additional lap for Dickinson to move around Yardley’s No. 78 Topp Racing Porsche through the “boot” at Watkins Glen to get to the lead. Once in front, Dickinson survived restarts following two separate full course caution periods to bring home his fourth win of the season.

Alan Metni, the 2022 Pro-Am class champion, was the top qualifying Pro-Am driver and stayed in front of the field through both restarts to earn his first victory of the season in the No. 99 Kellymoss Porsche over point leader JP Martinez and Patrick Mulcahy. Scott Blind continued his dominance of the Masters class with his sixth win of the season in the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche.

Race 2. Saturday. June 21, 2025.

Zachary Vanier earned his first Porsche Carrera Cup North America victory of the season on Saturday at Watkins Glen, avoiding a first lap incident and driving his No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup to the win over Topp Racing teammates Tyler Maxson and Ryan Yardley.

Two separate incidents between turns one and two on the opening lap mixed up the field in all three classes, with eight total cars involved. Up front, polesitter Riley Dickinson and second starting Jimmy Llibre made side to side contact which resulted in contact with the guardrail for Dickinson. Dickinson continued, pulling to pit lane for assessment and rejoining at the rear of the field. In the midpack of the field, heavy contact eliminated six cars from the race including Masters class leader and Friday’s race winner Scott Blind.

The race restarted with 19 minutes to go and Vanier in the lead, after sweeping from fifth on the grid to the lead on the outside of the first two corners. Teammates Maxson and Yardley, who started fourth and third, respectively, chased Vanier to the checkered flag but fell 0.437 second short. Dickinson salvaged a 13th place finish and turned the quickest lap of the race for an additional bonus point to hold his Championship lead.

Highlights.

  • Championship Battle At Halfway. The Porsche Carrera Cup North America season has reached the halfway point following Watkins Glen and the championship battle is heating up. Ryan Yardley’s consistency, finishing on the podium in all but one race, has allowed him to close to seven points of Championship leader Riley Dickinson. Dickinson has three wins on the season to lead that category among all drivers in the Pro class. Yardley and Tyler Maxson have both contributed to Topp Racing’s lead in the team championship despite Dickinson’s individual honors. JP Martinez and Scott Blind hold a solid lead on the Pro-Am and Masters categories at the mid-point.
  • Rookie Update. Porsche Carrera Cup North America’s depth of field makes the Rookie championship a challenge to win as well. Kellymoss driver Aaron Jeansonne leads at the halfway point, but Topp Racing’s Tyler Maxson closed the gap at Watkins Glen to just six points at the midway point. In a twist of the point calculations, however, Maxson leads Jeansonne in the overall points with the pair sitting fifth and sixth in the standings.
