The collaboration between the Stuttgart-based company and the US racing team has a long tradition. In 1972 and 1973, various Porsche 917 entered by Penske dominated the CanAm series and won major titles. Between 2005 and 2008, the team won virtually everything that was up for grabs in the American Le Mans Series with the RS Spyder. "One of the key factors was Roger Penske's attention to detail," recalls Porsche brand ambassador, Timo Bernhard, who won the ALMS title twice.

The "Captain", as the US businessman is known, set standards. The team subsequently added two more major trophies to its collection in the 2022 season: Penske drivers took the titles in both the NASCAR and IndyCar Series.

Only in western France is there a famous race the Team Penske has yet to win: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This puts victory in this classic event right at the top of the team’s wish list.

Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport, has assigned an experienced man to supervise the 963 project: Urs Kuratle from Switzerland. The Director Factory Motorsport LMDh works closely with Jonathan Diuguid. The American oversees all operations in the World Championship and IMSA series for Penske.
