António Félix da Costa

For the 2023 season, António Félix da Costa started as a Porsche works driver to tackle the Gen3 era of Formula E. It was a dream come true for the 31-year-old Portuguese racing driver – who has been part of the world’s first electric racing series from the start and clinched the 2020 title. “When I look at myself in the mirror wearing a Porsche racing suit, it’s insane,” he says. “Even as a kid, I dreamed of contesting and winning races for Porsche.” During his career, he has raced in many racing series and achieved major successes in almost all of them. He won the legendary Macau Grand Prix in 2012 and 2016 and claimed the LMP2 class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2022.

The ex-Formula 1 test driver for Red Bull Racing describes his entry into Formula E as “the best decision of my life.” He is impressed by the positive development of Formula E. It’s “super cool” to be a part of this championship, particularly the message behind it: “Everything we do is green. As I grow up I become more aware of the world’s problems. To show on the racetrack that electric cars are not boring, that they’re quick and efficient and to see the change of perception in the world in such a short time – it’s really great.”

The new Porsche works driver is a self-proclaimed ‘sports junkie’. “I struggle to just sit on the couch and rest. Sport is important for my mental health.” The passionate surfer lives in Cascais, a picturesque coastal town just out of Lisbon. “I get up in the morning and look at the conditions. If the waves are good I get out there.” And if not? Then he grabs his golf bag.

Top performances are expected from top racing drivers. Although António Félix Da Costa has always been aware of the pressure, he is not fazed by it. On the contrary: “It’s great to have pressure,” he says. “Having no pressure means no one cares what you do. Pressure means people want you to perform, so I train every day for this. Everyone at Porsche is working towards one goal: we want to win races and championships.”

At the Cape Town E-Prix in February 2023, he won his first race as Porsche works driver and took two more podium finishes for the team in his first season.
