The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix has begun

The wait is over: the opening matches in qualifying between Aliaksandra Sasnovich and the Porsche Talent Team’s Julia Stusek on Court 1 plus Oceane Dodin (FRA) and Kathinka von Deichmann (LIE) on Court 2 in the Porsche Arena on Saturday at 11 o’clock marked the start of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. The Turk Zeynep Sonmez is seeded No. 1.

The 16 players competing for the four berths still vacant in the main draw include five Germans. Julia Stusek is joined in qualifying by Eva Bennemann, another junior belonging to the Porsche Talent Team. Compatriots Jule Niemeier, the 2022 Wimbledon quarterfinalist, and Anna-Lena Friedsam go head-to-head in an all-German affair. Stuttgart’s Victoria Pohle, the fifth German, is making her debut at a WTA 500 tournament.

The world Top 4 in the Porsche Arena

The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2026 also has a superb line-up. Three of the world’s Top 4 – the No. 1 seeded Elena Rybakina (KAZ), the 2024 winner, the two-time Stuttgart victor Iga Swiatek (POL) as well as the US Open champion Coco Gauff (USA) – are in action in the Porsche Arena. Top 10 stars Jasmine Paolini (ITA), Elina Svitolina (UKR) and Mirra Andreeva are also contesting the tournament along with title-holder Jelena Ostapenko (LAT) and the former world No. 2 Paula Badosa (ESP), who was given a wildcard.

Five Germans are sure of a main draw slot – Laura Siegemund, the 2017 winner and Porsche Friend Eva Lys plus wildcard holders Ella Seidel, Noma Noha Akugue and Tamara Korpatsch. Awaiting the winner of the final is the main prize, a Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet.

Porsche in tennis

The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is the flagship of Porsche’s worldwide involvement in women’s tennis. First played in 1978, the Stuttgart WTA tournament stands for tradition and innovation, just like the Porsche brand. As the most loyal sponsor of women’s international tennis, Porsche has accompanied the WTA’s oldest indoor event right from the start. Porsche has also been a premium partner of the “Deutsche Tennis Bund” (DTB – German Tennis Association) since 2012 and is committed to fostering up-and-coming players in the Porsche Talent Team.
