The 911 Carrera T “Formosa” pays homage to Taiwan’s natural landscapes, with a design narrative deeply rooted in the island’s scenery. The name “Formosa”, meaning “Beautiful Island”, was bestowed by 16th-century Portuguese sailors captivated by its verdant terrain.
A bespoke statement for the beautiful island Taiwan
Taiwan’s geography offers an extraordinary diversity of landscapes within a compact area – from the soaring central mountain range, home to some of the world’s most scenic driving roads, to the dramatic rock formations of the east coast and the vibrant Pacific waters. This interplay of mountain, stone and sea inspired the project’s concept. The exterior colours evoke the ocean and coastal rock formations, while the interior reflects lush mountain greenery.
“The 911 Carrera T ‘Formosa’ is a statement of individuality and a celebration of Taiwan,” said Christian Nater, CEO of Porsche Taiwan. “Through the Sonderwunsch programme, we have brought a distinct vision to life that captures the essence of the island.”
Exterior: A palette inspired by nature
The 911 Carrera T “Formosa” features Porsche’s Paint to Sample Ipanema Blue Metallic, symbolising the ocean surrounding Taiwan. Contrasting details in Suzuka Grey Metallic – on the Porsche rear lettering, side window trim and rear engine lid slats – represent the rugged stone formations of the east coast. The 20-/21-inch RS Spyder wheels are finished in Suzuka Grey Metallic with an inner rim bed in Vanadium Grey Metallic, complemented by Exclusive Manufaktur HD-Matrix Design LED headlights in black and Exclusive Design taillights.
An interior of detailed craftsmanship
The cabin continues the narrative of the island’s landscape, with Paldao wood trim evoking its mountainous greenery. Full bucket seats are upholstered in bi-colour Truffle Brown and Black leather with distinctive Night Green stitching. A highlight is the newly developed “Formosa” chequered pattern – introduced for the first time – in Night Green, Black and Cream White. This bespoke pattern adorns the seat inserts and key elements of the fully leather-lined front boot, which also features embroidered “Formosa” lettering.
Illuminated door sill guards read “Formosa x Sonderwunsch”, while the headrests carry an embossed “Formosa” logo integrating a 911 Carrera T silhouette with motifs of ocean waves and mountain peaks.
“Every detail of the ‘Formosa Project’ has been carefully considered and executed,” added Nater. “From the new chequered pattern to bespoke embossing, this vehicle showcases the breadth of the Sonderwunsch programme.”
Performance meets personality
Beneath its bespoke exterior, the 911 Carrera T “Formosa” retains the purist performance that defines the model. With lightweight construction, manual transmission and sport-tuned suspension, the Carrera T is a true driver’s car – perfectly suited to Taiwan’s diverse and thrilling roads. The Sonderwunsch programme adds a distinctive layer of personalisation to this experience.
About the Sonderwunsch Programme
Porsche is reinterpreting the legendary Sonderwunsch (special wishes) programme of the late 1970s, enabling personalised one-offs – co-created by the customer and professionally realised by Porsche. The offering for new vehicles includes the installation of tailor-made special request options directly in the production run. A highlight that customers can access when ordering a car is Paint to Sample Plus: Porsche creates and develops an individual exterior colour based on the customer's personal wishes.
Retrofitting of vehicles is also possible. Customers can completely redesign the interior and exterior of their car or create highly individualised one-offs with the support of Porsche's own development and design team. For older vehicles, this programme always includes restoration, which can also be commissioned separately.
