Full speed ahead into the 2019 Porsche European Open: US golfer Matt Kuchar had an eventful start to the tournament week, getting a unique experience to put a Porsche sports car to the test.
Driving around the ADAC Driving Safety Centre in Luneburg just south of Hamburg, the nine-time US PGA Tour winner put the limits of his driving skills to the test in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and in doing so felt “like a kid again.”
Kuchar was also impressed by his Porsche driving instructor Jussi Kumpumäki. Sitting in the passenger seat, the golfer got first-hand experience of the 520 bhp (911 GT3 RS: Fuel consumption combined 13.2 l/100 km; CO2 emissions 303 g/km) vehicle’s racing capabilities. “These cars are made to race,” said the American. After a number of drifts and a slick slalom run, the professional driver was also full of praise for Kuchar saying, “Matt really surprised me. He did very well indeed.”
The Porsche European Open 2019 protagonists meet for the Porsche Urban Golf Challenge on 3 September at 8.30 p.m.
