The customer racing vehicles from Porsche have given an impressive demonstration of their huge potential at numerous races in recent weeks. The partners of Porsche Motorsport achieved successes most notably with the new 911 GT3 R at the season-opening round of the Blancpain GT Series and the GT World Challenge Asia. On the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the vehicle crossed the finish line at the VLN season-opener in second place. The new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport dominated the Pirelli GT4 America Sprint Series event at Long Beach, and the Porsche 911 RSR scored a podium spot at the first round of the 2019 European Le Mans Series (ELMS).
Sensational debut for the new Dinamic Motorsport customer squad
The Porsche customer team Dinamic Motorsport gave an inspired performance at the season-opening round of the Blancpain GT Series in Monza (Italy). At the first outing with the Porsche 911 GT3 R in the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup, the Italian outfit claimed overall victory.
Klaus Bachler (Austria), Andrea Rizzoli (Italy) and Zaid Ashkanani (Kuwait) brought home first place after a hotly-contested race under difficult conditions on the high-speed racetrack close to Milan. Round two of the endurance series will be contested at Silverstone (Great Britain) on the second weekend in May.
Race win and points lead for Absolute Racing in Asia
Watched by the King of Malaysia, the Porsche customer team Absolute Racing landed a major triumph at the second race of the GT World Challenge Asia. After a hard-fought effort, Germany’s Philip Hamprecht (Hagen) and his teammate Tanart Sathienthirakul (Thailand) took over the drivers’ championship lead.
Following the success in Sepang, the Absolute Racing customer squad now ranks first in the team classification. The next double-header event of the GT World Challenge Asia is held on 11 and 12 May at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand.
VLN season-opener: Porsche 911 GT3 R shines on the Nordschleife
Porsche’s customer teams have underlined the strengths of the new 911 GT3 R at the first round of the long-distance championship on the Nürburgring (VLN).
The GT3 vehicle, which was newly developed for the 2019 season, achieved second overall at the 65th ADAC Westfalenfahrt on 23 March. Only 5.486 seconds separated the two French works drivers Frédéric Makowieki and Patrick Pilet from victory in the Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by Manthey Racing. The second race of the VLN season was halted after just one lap due to persistent snowfall and was eventually cancelled altogether. The next event for the Porsche 911 GT3 R on the Nordschleife will be on 27 April at round three of the popular club racing series at the Nürburgring.
Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport wins at Long Beach
Against a stunning backdrop and on a very special racetrack, the Porsche customer team TRG celebrated a triumphant victory. Spencer Pumpelly (USA) secured first place on the streets of California’s Long Beach.
The race was held as part of the IndyCar Series and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Throngs of spectators witnessed the lights-to-flag victory of the blue GT4 customer racer from Weissach. The next round on the GT4 Championship calendar is contested in Virginia (USA) on the last weekend in April.
