Andrea Petkovic fought an 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory in Sunday’s final against the Italian Flavia Pennetta. After a perfect dress rehearsal in winning her fifth career tournament, she will travel highly confident to Prague where she and Porsche Team Germany will do battle for the Fed Cup crown on 8 and 9 November.

Captain Rittner: "She’s got herself out of a sticky patch"

In the Arena Armeec, Andrea Petkovic, who this season had already won the tournaments in Charleston and Bad Gastein, began her tenth WTA final poorly. After losing the first set easily, she turned the match around against the strong Italian with an impressive spirited performance – much to the pleasure of Barbara Rittner.

“She’s got herself out of a sticky patch,” said the Porsche Team Germany captain when talking about Andrea Petkovic’s success. The 27-year old is certain to be the German No. 2 singles player alongside Angelique Kerber. “Her form and self-confidence have come at just the right moment for Prague.”
