The Porsche Design custom-built Timepieces program offers Porsche drivers, fans, and enthusiasts as well as watch lovers the opportunity to create their personal “sports car for the wrist.” Launched in 2020, the program is now being expanded to include an additional timepiece – the Globetimer – alongside the already available Chronograph. This innovative world time watch enables the display of a second time zone and has been part of the Porsche Design collection as a standard watch since 2019. It features the radically simplified user-friendliness and optimum readability that is typical of the brand.

Symbiosis of Sports Car and Watchmaking Expertise

The Globetimer indicates both the time of the wearer’s country of origin and their travel destination. Derived from the functionality of the Porsche dual-clutch gearbox, the local time display can be adjusted at one-hour intervals without losing the current time display (minutes and seconds) – at the touch of a button and including automatic adaptation of the date display. To do so, the pushers that are familiar from the chronograph are given a new function, making adjustment via the crown superfluous. Unlike the chronograph, the date is shown by an additional hand and a display around the dial. The travel companion is powered by the Porsche Design WERK 04.110 caliber, which was specially developed for the requirements of the Globetimer at Porsche’s own watchmaking manufactory in Solothurn, Switzerland. It is the second in-house movement in the history of Porsche Design and, like all the brand’s calibers, is COSC certified, guaranteeing maximum precision.

Tailor-made Companions for Time Travelers

The revolutionary custom-built Timepieces program translates the principle of the Porsche car configurator into the luxury watch segment, enabling the design of a customized watch. No matter how individual the wishes of the customer are or their Porsche 911 is – each timepiece can be adapted to the vehicle or the customer’s own creative ideas right down to the smallest detail, thanks to the specially developed online watch configurator. From the watch case with the bezel, the colored ring on the dial, the strap, and the rotor to the personal engraving, there are countless possible combinations to choose from.

Dial and Colored Ring

While the dial is always matte black – typical for Porsche Design – the choice of colorways for the ring around the dial not only includes all current exterior colors of the new 911 (generation 992.2), but also the iconic and historic colors of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s Paint to Sample program. These are custom colors such as Gulf Blue and Ruby Star, which enjoy cult status among Porsche fans. In total, there are 142 different colorways to choose from.

Strap

The strap can also be individualized based on the customer’s preferences. Options include an ultralight and hypoallergenic titanium strap with a black or natural titanium finish or a strap made of Porsche vehicle interior leather. Contrasting stitching with genuine Porsche vehicle thread in all colors from the sports car’s interior range rounds off the design options for the calfskin strap. Thanks to the quick-change mechanism, straps can be changed in seconds without the use of any tools.

Rotor and Case Back

The winding rotor under the glass base of the chronograph’s caseback can be chosen either in the form of the Porsche Design icon in black or in the form of an alloy wheel of the new Porsche 911. In line with the vehicle range, the eight new wheel rim variants can be configured in the corresponding paint colors. All winding rotors are finished in true Porsche style with the striking center lock or the hubcaps with the Porsche Crest. A laser engraving with up to 12 characters on the arching of the case back completes the customization options. The closed case back of the custom-built Globetimer can be personalized by the customer with an engraved text (five lines with up to 17 characters each).

The custom-built Globetimer will be available from May 28, 2024, in all markets where the custom-built Timepieces program has been rolled out. These are currently Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the U.S. and the United Kingdom. With the launch of the custom-built Globetimer, the watch configurator is now also going online in Canada. More international markets will be added to the custom-built Timepieces program this year and in the coming years. In addition to the web-based Porsche Design timepieces configurator at porsche‑design.com/custom‑built‑timepieces, interested customers can design and order their individual timepiece at participating Porsche Centers. The price depends on the individual configuration and starts at 5,950 euros (RRP).
