Porsche is enhancing the driving experience of all Taycan models

"By introducing comprehensive innovations for the model year change, we are strengthening the Taycan in all relevant areas: the latest models offer a more emotive driving experience, greater track performance and more intuitive and customisable operation," says Kevin Giek, Head of the model line.

With the new E-Shift option, Porsche is enhancing the emotive driving experience of all Taycan models. Virtual gear changes with noticeable shift jerks, a reinterpreted Porsche Electric Sport Sound and a virtual rev counter guarantee a multi-sensory driving experience. Paddles on the GT-sports steering wheel can be used to shift between eight simulated gears.

More performance on the track

Porsche already offers Manthey Kits for the racetrack for numerous GT models – now, for the first time, it is doing so for an electric sports car. The new Manthey Kit with extensive aerodynamic, chassis and powertrain optimisations significantly increases the performance of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package. On the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife, Lars Kern recently set a record time of 6:55.533 minutes in the ‘electric executive cars’ category. The Taycan also sets a new benchmark in terms of efficiency: summer tyres with exceptionally low rolling resistance are now available for the rear-wheel drive models.¹ In combination with the Performance Battery Plus, they enable a WLTP range of up to 700 km for the first time. This makes the Taycan even more suitable for long-distance journeys than ever before.

The new model year is rounded off by the introduction of the new generation of infotainment. The Porsche Digital Interaction operating and display experience uses a modern, minimalist design language, a 3D vehicle model in the actual colour of the customer's car, freely configurable widgets and improved voice control with AI-supported Voice Pilot. The level of integration of Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto has been expanded, and the navigation system sets new standards with precise online route calculation, 3D representations of buildings and an optimised Charging Planner. The ability to perform over-the-air updates (OTA) for the infotainment system, plus a smartphone storage tray with a magnetic ring mount and charging capacity of up to 25 watts.

Driving pleasure for all the senses: the new E-Shift option

With the new E-Shift option, the driving experience in all Taycan models is even more emotive, can be enjoyed more intensely and is multisensory. This is because it appeals to several human senses – from touch and hearing to sight – at once. Virtual gearshifts, combined with a reinterpreted Porsche Electric Sport Sound, convey an authentic, dynamic gear-shifting sensation – just as if you were calling up the performance of a classic Porsche gear by gear.

As an alternative to automatic mode, drivers can use the paddles of the GT-sports steering wheel to shift between eight virtual gears. The gear changes are simulated realistically: noticeable gear-shift jerks, gear-specific drag torque – comparable to the engine-braking behaviour of a combustion-engined car – and a virtual rev limiter ensure authentic feedback. At the same time, the interior and exterior sound of the Porsche Electric Sport Sound adapts to the respective driving situation depending on load and ‘engine’ speed. The system is supplemented by a virtual rev counter and a gear indicator with shift light in the instrument cluster.

The optional ‘E-Shift including GT-sports steering wheel with paddles’ is available for all Taycan variants and body styles.² The Taycan Turbo GT is equipped with the system as standard. The transmission mapping and sound characteristics are tailored to each model, giving each variant its own acoustic and driving profile. E-Shift is activated via an additional mode switch on the GT-sports steering wheel.

WLTP range of up to 700 km and a new summer tyre option

The Taycan is starting the new model year with further improved efficiency in every detail: summer tyres with particularly low rolling resistance are available for the rear-wheel drive entry-level models (sports sedan and Sport Turismo). They increase the driving range by up to 20 km and, in combination with the Performance Battery Plus, enable a WLTP range of up to 700 km for the first time³. The 20-inch tyres are optimised for both long-distance and city driving. The ‘Summer tyres range plus’ option is available in Europe and EU member states.

With a modern look and feel, an atmospheric welcome animation and the colour personalisation of its Themes app, Porsche has broken new ground in the operating and display experience of the Macan Electric and Cayenne Electric. Now this generational leap can also be experienced in the Taycan. The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system offers up to five times the computing power of its predecessor. This ensures faster response times, smooth menu navigation and a noticeably improved overall system performance.

New Porsche Digital Interaction

The new Porsche Digital Interaction (Porsche DI) operating and display experience blends aesthetics and functionality. Clear graphic structures, minimalist icons and dynamic animations create a modern, uncluttered appearance. The vehicle app in the PCM bundles all important vehicle functions in one place and enables particularly intuitive operation. At the centre is a high-quality 3D model of a Taycan in the actual exterior colour⁴ of the customer's vehicle. Through this vehicle icon, the driver can directly control all the key vehicle functions. The 3D model can be rotated freely, with all views rendered smoothly.

New elements of Porsche Digital Interaction are the widgets – small interactive applications. Just like on a smartphone, these controls provide quick access to various functions. These widgets can be used to display your preferred content, such as navigation, media and telephone, directly on the screen. The widgets have a high-quality visual design and can be used interactively. Certain apps can be displayed in either split-screen or in full-screen mode across the full display area.

More intuitive, more personalisation

The Themes app enables comprehensive personalisation of the digital environment. There are several colour worlds to choose from, which influence the lighting mood and the colour scheme of the display content. The themes harmonise with each vehicle’s exterior colour scheme and can be combined with the ambient lighting.

With the App Centre, Porsche is expanding its digital ecosystem to include its own apps and those from third-party providers. Customers can select apps individually and download and update them directly in the PCM system. The range covers various different categories – such as audio and video streaming, navigation and parking and charging – and continues to grow rapidly, tailored to respective markets.

The enhanced voice control system allows the operation of navigation, vehicle functions, media and selected apps. It is complemented by the AI-supported Voice Pilot with natural conversation, Google-supported™ POI search and the possibility to ask follow-up questions without repeating "Hey Porsche" each time. There is also a voice-based handbook with tips and how-to guides. In the Taycan, even the electric charging flap can be opened via voice command.

Updates for the infotainment system in the Taycan can now be downloaded entirely over the air (OTA) and, following confirmation by the customer, installed in the background. Smartphones can be charged wirelessly about 1.5 times faster than before, thanks to an increase in charging power to up to 25 watts.

The 2027 model year Taycan is now available to order from all Porsche centres.
