Three Porsche score points in second Jeddah race

The highest placed Porsche 99X Electric was that of Andretti Formula E’s Jake Dennis, who finished in 4^th place after having led the race briefly. Cupra Kiro’s Dan Ticktum (Porsche 99X Electric WCG3) finished 9^th to make it three Porsche in the top ten. The points of former World Champion Dennis in the customer car as well as those of reigning World Champion Wehrlein count towards the manufacturers’ standings as they were the two best-placed Porsche finishers.

Comments on the Jeddah E-Prix

Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E: “That was another disappointing race day in Jeddah. António starting from P4 and being taken out from behind by a competitor was really unfortunate. He would have been good for a top position. Pascal started from P13 and progressed through the race, then finished P8. We collected valuable points but could have had more. Now we will regroup, analyse everything and try to come back even stronger in Miami.”

Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche works driver (#1): “We had a software issue in qualifying which cost us performance. At one point the race felt quite good, but at the end it didn’t feel quite as good anymore. It is a bit difficult to understand why we lost so many places.”

António Félix da Costa, Porsche works driver (#13): “It feels like a weekend where I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. In both races I got hit very hard on the opening lap. Today it was terminal damage, so the race was over after three corners. We started fourth and we had everything to fight for a win. This one will hurt us both mentally and in our championship, but there’s still a long season ahead. We’ve got a super-strong team so we will keep fighting.”

The next outing for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, Andretti Formula E and Cupra Kiro is race 5 at the Miami E-Prix on 12 April 2025.

Before that, the teams will be part of Formula E’s Evo Sessions. Porsche in Formula E

2024/2025 sees Porsche contest its sixth Formula E season. In addition to the works TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, American customer team Andretti Formula E is entering the Porsche 99X Electric of the latest GEN3 Evo generation. With the addition of Cupra Kiro, this season will be the first time that a second Porsche customer team has entered the series; they will be using 99X technology of the previous GEN3 generation. Formula E gives the brand valuable insights for its production sports cars.
