Porsche Team Germany’s squad for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals

Tatjana Maria, Jule Niemeier, Laura Siegemund and Eva Lys will be competing for Porsche Team Germany at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga, Spain from 13 to 20 November.

Germany’s team captain Rainer Schüttler is unable to call upon Angelique Kerber in the contest for the most important team title in women’s tennis. After her successful career, the Porsche Brand Ambassador retired at the Olympic Games in Paris. Anna-Lena Friedsam will also not be appearing in Malaga as she is lacking match practice after injury. Jule Niemeier will return to the team in her place. She played impressively at the US Open when reaching the third round. A fifth player will be named at a later date.

“We’ve got a strong team. All the players have already experienced Billie Jean King Cup action,” said Rainer Schüttler. Tatjana Maria, Laura Siegemund and Eva Lys were in the line-up when Porsche Team Germany qualified for the Finals for the second time in a row by comfortably winning away against the strong Brazilians.

Great Britain awaiting on 15 November

The Top 12 tennis nations will be competing in the Finals for the coveted trophy. Porsche Team Germany will start its campaign in the first round on 15 November against Great Britain. Porsche brand ambassador Emma Raducanu played a key role in the British team's qualification for the final round with two victories in singles. The Britons’ top player is Katie Boulter, the current world No. 36. Rainer Schüttler is however confident going into the tie. “On paper, the Britons have a better line-up. However, our players have the quality to beat such teams.”
