In the Porsche Golf Circle, golf-loving Porsche customers enjoy exceptional experiences linked to Porsche and golf. The Community however stands for a special spirit amongst its members who share the same passions. And 2024’s concluding event duly started with smiling faces. The first get-together at the start with a sensational view of the Dubai Marina and the magnificent landmark of the United Arab Emirates’ biggest city was marked by warm encounters with new and old friends from all over the world. 65 guests from twelve countries from all around the globe from South Africa to USA, Europe, the United Arab Emirates and to China, India and South Korea gathered on the rooftop terrace of the Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah to get in the mood for special days – days full of special moments in which the Porsche Golf Circle turned the “City of Gold” into the “City of Golf and Porsche” at the end of a wonderful Community year.
A fabulous golfing start with a spectacular view
A 9-hole round of night golf on the Emirates Golf Club’s Faldo Course after the get-together provided a fabulous golfing start featuring an entertaining team competition and a spectacular view. Golf under floodlights in sight of the illuminated skyline was a new experience for almost all the guests. “That’s the most fun. I’m so glad that I can play with people from all around the world,” raved participant Ty Vilhauer from USA. As for night golf, Christopher Hosken added: “Would be cool to have that in South Africa also.”
Electrifying festival atmosphere
Day two was all about “Icons of Porsche“, the Middle East’s biggest automotive festival which was attended by 28,000 fans. Insights into the latest and rare sports car icons, get-togethers with other Porsche Communities and people with the same interests plus the remarkable milestone of 50 years of the famous Turbo model lines at Porsche thrilled the Porsche Golf Circle guests in an electrifying festival atmosphere.
Particularly enthusiastic were three participants from Spain who took the time to wait for the former World Endurance Champion with Porsche and Brand Ambassador Mark Webber, who then talked at length with the family from the Community. “It was great to meet a real icon like Mark Webber at the Icons of Porsche. He was so friendly, and it was really amazing,” said Alvaro Bernad from Spain.
Circle member Ralf Ensmenger from Germany was taken aback by the surprise of having a look at the 911 Turbo 50 Years special edition which he himself had ordered in summer, and which he was now able to see in the “flesh”. “What an experience, what a fantastic car, exactly the model we’ve also ordered, a huge highlight,” said Ensmenger who can hardly wait for his own special Turbo to arrive. Instead of a 74 on the door for the Turbo’s year of the birth, “I’ll have a 9 as a reminder of my football career. I’m so looking forward to getting it.”
The Community rounded off the day at a convivial round of top golf – lots of fun including refreshments in a leisurely sense of togetherness. “It’s amazing to network with people from all other countries,” enthused the participant David Wolman from South Africa, one of many members that were taking part in an event for the first time. Compatriot Christopher Hosken rejoiced: “The people here are so cool. And the coolest thing is the diversity of the people. The beauty of the brand Porsche is how much people love the cars and driving the cars, sharing stories about our great passion for them.”
Awaiting the guests the next morning was the world-famous Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, home of the DP World Tour Dubai Invitational at the start of the year. The Championship Course with its long tradition as a prestigious tournament venue treated the Community to world class conditions and a breathtaking setting. It was also reflected by the excellent scores. Most impressive was Germany’s Mümin Saka who shot a sensational par 71 round – an achievement that was extensively celebrated at the victory ceremony in the evening.
“Porsche Golf Circle events offer the chance for our customers from all over the world the opportunity to experience the passions of Porsche and golf in an exceptional way,” says Carolin Kunz, Global Community Management of Porsche AG. “This event in Dubai with participants from twelve countries and four continents impressively underlines the international nature of this Community.”
A magnificent evening
The festive conclusion to the days in Dubai and simultaneously the 2024 Porsche Golf Circle season was formed by the spectacular Community dinner in the One & Only Mirage. Gathered together in a wonderfully convivial and stunning atmosphere, the Community enjoyed a magnificent evening in which everybody was celebrating, and not just the day’s winners at the victory ceremony. “We’re really happy to be here. Porsche made a perfect job in bringing all of us together, it is so inclusive. We are talking about cars, we are talking about golf and just having a great time together,” said Ty Vilhauer. Others summed everything up in a similar way: “Pretty awesome. A great experience. Best of both worlds. Beautiful scenery.” Everybody was united in saying: “I’ll definitely come back to Porsche Golf Circle events.”
