Sebring, Florida. Porsche Penske Motorsport dominated the GTP class of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, with the No. 7 Porsche 963 of Felipe Nasr (Brazil), Julien Andlauer (France) and Laurin Heinrich (Germany) scoring their second victory in as many races to open the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
The sister No. 6 of Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and Matt Campbell finished second, just 1.515 seconds behind their teammates after 12 hours of racing.
Porsche also dominated the GTD Pro class at Sebring. The Manthey Racing No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R reclaimed the lead late and earned Manthey Racing’s first North American win. Thomas Preining, Klaus Bachler and Ricardo Feller drove the “Grello” livery to victory lane at Sebring.
Their closest competitor was AO Racing’s No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R in the popular “Roxy” livery. Nick Tandy, Harry King and Alessio Piciarello co-drove to the second place finish.
In GTD, Wright Motorsports made up two positions on the final lap to earn a third place finish. Callum Ilott, Adam Adelson and Porsche Motorsport North America Selected Driver Tom Sargent earned the class podium.
This is the second season in a row that Porsche has won both the GTP class and GTD Pro class at Sebring, with the No. 7 and the No. 77 taking the honors a year ago.
