Porsche Takes 112th Class Win at Le Mans, Earn Second Overall

Porsche extended their record 112 class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Sunday with a victory from the No. 92 Manthey 1st Phorm Porsche 911 GT3 R in the LMGT3 class, and finished second with the Porsche Penske Motorsport No. 6 Porsche 963.

Le Mans, France. The Manthey 1st Phorm Porsche, co-driven by Atlanta resident Ryan Hardwick, Richard Lietz, and Riccardo Pero, were in front at the end of every hour for the final nine hours of the race and finished 33.259 seconds ahead of their nearest competitor. Defending Porsche Carrera Cup North America champion Loek Hartog was part of the No. 90 Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R who finished sixth in class.

Porsche Penske Motorsport ran a near-perfect race with the No. 6 963, who started at the rear of the 21-car Hypercar field. Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and Matt Campbell finished just 14.1 seconds behind the winner as the only non-Ferrari in the top-four. Vanthoor, who won the 24 Hours at Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring with Porsche Penske Motorsport earlier this season, narrowly missed becoming the first driver to win the “Triple Crown of Endurance Racing” in the same season.
