Two winners at the Golden Classic Steering Wheel awards

The readers of "Auto Bild Klassik" magazine have decided: the new Porsche 911 Targa is already the "Classic of the future". The car design icon, which features a revolutionary roof system, was the winner in the "Cabrios and roadsters" category.

Nominees in the "Classics of the year" category are model series that were celebrating a special anniversary this year from the date they were first introduced. The 911 Targa triumphed over competitors in the "Cabrios and Roadsters" category.

The Porsche 356 Speedster was voted "Classic of the year" in the "Cabrios and Roadsters" category as well. This model embodies the core values of the Porsche brand: lightweight construction, design excellence, efficiency and sportiness. The first Speedster was built 60 years ago.

Reinterpreting the Targa for the future

Accepting the awards at the awards ceremony yesterday (Tuesday) were August Achleitner, product director of the 911 model series and Achim Stejskal, head of the museum and historical public relations.

Achleitner had this to say: "The title of 'Classic of the future' is a great honour for us, but it also challenges us to work on the classic Targa theme with tremendous passion and to reinterpret it for the future."
