Currently six Top 10 players at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

The list of Top 10 players at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is getting longer. One week before the official entry deadline, the Grand Slam winner Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) plus Maria Sakkari (Greece) and Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) have all confirmed they will be in the line-up for the 45th edition of the time-honoured Stuttgart tournament.

This now means that six players ranked in the world’s Top 10 will be competing in the Porsche Arena from 16 to 24 April. Barbora Krejcikova heads the provisional entry list. At the 2021 French Open, she not only won the singles but also the doubles. The left-hander is currently the world number two. Maria Sakkari (No. 6) crowned her successful year in 2021 by reaching the semifinals at the French and US Opens and by qualifying for the WTA Finals where she also made it to the last four. She is thus ranked as the first Greek woman in the world Top 10.

Ons Jabeur (No. 10) also achieved the feat as the first Arab player. In 2021, she won the WTA event in Birmingham and was the runner-up in Charleston and Chicago.

The Top 10’s Anett Kontaveit (Estonia/No. 5), Paula Badosa (Spain/No. 7) and Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic/No. 8) had already confirmed their intention to play the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Also taking part will be the Porsche Brand Ambassador Angelique Kerber (No. 16). Germany’s top player was the much-acclaimed winner of the 2015 and 2016 tournaments in the Porsche Arena. Awaiting the best player is a Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo as the main prize.
