The new 911 Cup, the latest evolution of Porsche’s one-make cup racing car, was revealed at an event ahead of the third round of the 2025/26 championship at the Dubai Autodrome this weekend.
The unveiling welcomed Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East drivers, teams and VIP guests for an exclusive first look at the new racing car ahead of its competitive rollout in the opening round of the 2026/27 season later this year.
Latest generation of Carrera Cup racer
Based on the 992.2 generation of the Porsche 911, the new 911 Cup represents a comprehensive refinement of its acclaimed predecessor, with development efforts focused on enhancing performance, maintaining reasonable operating costs, and simplifying handling for both drivers and teams. The new racing car continues Porsche’s long-standing tradition of transferring motorsport technology into customer racing through meticulous attention to detail.
At the heart of the 911 Cup is a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine delivering an increased output of 382 kW (520 PS), a gain of 10 PS over the previous generation. The water-cooled, high-revving engine is now even closer to its series-production counterpart, reinforcing Porsche’s philosophy of racing with production-based technology. An automatic engine restart function has also been introduced, further enhancing usability in competitive racing environments.
Produced alongside series-production cars at Porsche’s main plant in Zuffenhausen, the 911 Cup is largely derived from road-approved 911 GT models. Visually, the new car sets itself apart with a redesigned front end that mirrors the styling of the 992.2-generation 911 GT3, while adapted bodywork and improved aerodynamics contribute to enhanced on-track performance.
The braking system has undergone a comprehensive upgrade, with the front axle now featuring 380-millimetre discs. Their increased thickness allows for larger cooling channels and improved heat dissipation, delivering more consistent braking performance over race distances.
Inside the cockpit, operation has been further simplified both during racing and in the pits. A redesigned, higher-quality multifunction steering wheel combines a refined design with practical advantages, including central rotary controls for adjusting ABS intervention and traction control. Newly designed, colour-illuminated control buttons improve label readability, while the central control panel next to the seat remains easily accessible and now features eight physical switches instead of ten. Upgraded electronics, including enhanced TPMS functionality and a more powerful GPS antenna, further contribute to improved drivability.
In developing the 911 Cup, Porsche Motorsport once again partnered with Michelin to create a new generation of tyres specifically engineered for the demands of one-make cup racing, ensuring optimal performance, consistency and durability.
With its enhanced performance, refined handling and driver-focused design, the new 911 Cup sets a new benchmark for one-make racing, reinforcing Porsche’s leadership in customer motorsport as it prepares for its competitive debut in the Middle East.
