Porsche Brunei celebrates the classics

Porsche Brunei hosted a memorable customer event with the Porsche Classic Day at Porsche Centre Brunei. The event welcomed devoted Porsche Classic fans for a day filled with Porsche’s rich heritage and community spirit, featuring an impressive showcase of iconic Porsche classic sports cars.

Porsche Brunei recently hosted an iconic Porsche Classic Day as part of its ongoing Saturdays@Porsche event series. Held at Porsche Centre Brunei, the event brought together Porsche classic enthusiasts and fans alike to celebrate the timeless allure and enduring appeal of classic Porsche automobiles.

Porsche Centre Brunei provided the setting for a day that brought together the brand's heritage and its community in equal exciting measure.

A Day Dedicated to Porsche Heritage

The main highlight of the event was the Porsche Classic Showcase, a curated display of iconic sports cars spanning four decades of the brand’s history. The showcase served as the centrepiece of the event, allowing guests to admire the design, engineering and enduring character that define Porsche classics.

The first car in the showcase was the 1994 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 S Flachbau. The ‘3.6' designation refers to a 3.6-litre air-cooled, turbocharged flat-six engine, a significant upgrade over its predecessor that cemented its status as the definitive 964 Turbo. This particular example features the iconic slant nose, a distinctive factory special option inspired by Porsche Motorsport icons like the 935 ‘Moby Dick’.

The second was the 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S, Porsche's front-engined, transaxle grand tourer of the era. Its front-mounted 2.5-litre turbocharged engine and rear-mounted transmission gave this sports car a near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution, making it one of the most balanced sports cars of its generation.

The third was the 1994 Porsche 993 Carrera Coupé, representing the final generation of air-cooled 911s, an engine design trait that remained central to Porsche's identity for nearly three decades. It was also the first 911 to be designed around an ‘LSA’ chassis concept: Light, Stable and Agile, improving stability, agility and ride comfort.

The fourth was the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo from the second half of the 997 generation, and all-weather, all-condition conqueror equipped with all-wheel drive and twin-turbo flat-six power. The engine was the first series petrol engine to have turbochargers with variable turbine geometry (VTG).

The fifth and final car was the 2003 Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Porsche's first SUV and a model that marked a significant expansion of the brand beyond its sports car roots. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.5-litre V8 engine, it brought genuine sports car performance to the SUV segment at a time when few believed the two could coexist.

Beyond the showcase, guests were welcomed with a curated programme of experiences that reflected the spirit of Porsche. Visitors enjoyed complimentary coffee and fresh bakes while connecting with fellow enthusiasts, and had the opportunity to take part in test drives of the latest Porsche sports cars — experiencing first-hand the performance and precision that continue to define the brand today.

“Porsche Classic Day is truly a special occasion for us at Porsche Brunei. It is an opportunity to honour the craftsmanship, innovation, and passion that have defined Porsche for over seven decades — some of which are over 35 years old and yet remain breathtaking in every sense,” said Daniel Loo, Deputy General Manager of QAF Prestige Sdn Bhd.

Mr. Loo added, “Events like these bring the Porsche community closer together while creating lasting memories. We are deeply grateful to all who joined us and look forward to continuing this journey of celebrating the Spirit of the Classics.”

The Porsche Classic Showcase will be open to the public from 25 to 30 May at Porsche Centre Brunei. Visitors are invited to experience the design and engineering that have defined these models as enduring icons of the Porsche brand first-hand.
