Singapore. Porsche Asia Pacific and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance collaboration in sustainable mobility and next-generation automotive technologies. The collaboration outlines a five-year map that underscores both organisations’ aim to equip students and educators with practical, industry-relevant skills, while also aligning closely with the nation’s transition towards a more electrified mobility landscape.
Hannes Ruoff, Chief Executive Officer Porsche Asia Pacific said, “We are proud to partner with ITE here in Singapore to build capabilities for a rapidly evolving automotive industry. As mobility becomes increasingly electrified and digital, it is important to equip our young talents here in Singapore with strong technical foundations and real-world exposure. Through this partnership, we aim to support the development of relevant technical and digital skills for the next generation of the automotive industry.”
The MoU proposes knowledge exchange in key areas such as HV battery technology, EV diagnostics and digitalisation. For students, this could mean internship opportunities within Porsche Singapore, or overseas industrial attachment programmes across Porsche’s regional facilities – for example, at the local assembly facility for Porsche situated in Kedah, Malaysia. These are rare opportunities for a peek into top-level automotive production facilities, alongside a deeper understanding of technical innovations that go into every Porsche sports car.
ITE educators also benefit directly from the collaboration. Recently, two Automotive Engineering lecturers from ITE College West underwent specialised high-voltage (HV) battery training at the Porsche Service Centre in Singapore. Through the programme, participants gained firsthand insight into Porsche’s unique EV battery repair concept, and took part in a practical session that involved disassembling an HV battery unit on-site.
To further support hands-on training at ITE, Porsche intends to provide a Macan Electric for technical training purposes as part of this MoU. In recognition of academic excellence, Porsche will also support top-performing students through Book Prizes and Achiever Awards, serving as a sponsor during the collaboration period.
Peter Lam, Chief Executive Officer of ITE, said, “The automotive sector is undergoing a major transformation driven by electrification, digitalisation, and sustainability. Amid these changes, it is essential that our students and educators stay at the forefront of emerging technologies. Our partnership with Porsche Asia Pacific provides our students and educators with valuable exposure to cutting-edge innovations, along with internships and overseas attachments across Porsche’s regional network. These opportunities will equip our students and staff with practical skills and technical expertise that are aligned with industry best practices, empowering them to shape the future of Singapore’s automotive industry.”
