Listicle: The new Porsche Macan

Porsche has added a second all-electric model to its product line-up with the new Macan.

After launching the Taycan sports sedan to the world in 2019, the second-generation Macan is now also a battery-electric vehicle (BEV).

A decade since the debut of the first-generation Macan, this new model delivers E-Performance in any terrain with a high level of daily usability. 

The top of the range Macan Turbo boasts up to 470 Kw (639 PS) of power (including Overboost Power with Launch Control).

What is it?

The Macan mid-size SUV was first launched in 2014. The second generation all-electric model unveiled in 2024 will be sold alongside the first-generation petrol version.

What's new?

The Macan is new from the ground up. It has electric motors on the front and rear axles fed by a 100 kWh (gross energy capacity*) lithium ion battery located under the floor for low centre of gravity and optimum packaging.

The new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture is used by Porsche for the first time for the Macan.

Exterior

It’s one of the most aerodynamic SUVs on the market, using an adaptive rear spoiler and active air intake flaps on the front to increase range and reduce power use. This Macan Turbo is finished in Frozen Blue metallic.

The 22-inch Macan exclusive design wheels, side blades, lower trim rear apron and exterior door mirrors are in matching colour against side windows trims in high gloss black and roof rails in black aluminium.

The new Macan is longer but with shorter overhangs than the previous model.

It features Porsche’s signature four-point daytime headlights, which are complemented by the distinctive split-headlight design. Additionally, the car boasts a full-width strip tail light, giving it a sleek and modern look.

Interior

With the passenger infotainment display option, this Macan has three screens including the free-standing 12.6-inch, curved instrument cluster.

The Macan comes with yet another feature that is brand-new for Porsche: communication lighting, which takes the emotional driving experience to a new level through additional interaction.

This Macan features a brushed aluminium interior package with an extended black leather with turbonite interior package.

The front sports seats are powered 18-way adaptive and ventilated and it has a multi-function GT sports steering with carbon inlay.

Drivetrain

The Macan Turbo is all-wheel drive using two electric motors controlled by Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) that responds to slip within 10 milliseconds.

Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) distributes the power through an electronic differential.

It has rear-axle steering providing a compact turning circle of 11.1 metres (reduced by around 1m) while also enabling exceptional driving stability at speed.

Driving experience

Effortless, dynamic and smooth are the first points most will appreciate when driving the new Macan. Instantly ready as soon as the seatbelt is fastened, the driver simply engages a gear and moves away.

The immediate surge of power is something only an EV can give and the Macan Turbo’s agile chassis ensures all the power is delivered safely. The floor-mounted HV battery pack gives it a low centre of gravity which aids handling on windy roads and its rear-wheel steering and Torque Vectoring Plus gives it sports-car-like handling.
