Hollywood comes to Le Mans – in a Porsche

The No. 90 Porsche 911 GT3 R at this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans will wear a livery that will soon become known to film fans around the world, as part of plans to promote Brad Pitt’s new film, ‘F1® The Movie’.

Porsche customer team Manthey will field a third 911 GT3 R at this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, sporting a livery based on the fictional racing team at the centre of a forthcoming Hollywood film.

The No. 90 car will line up alongside the No. 85 car of the Iron Dames and the No. 92 car under the name Manthey 1st Phorm, both of which are being fielded by Manthey in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.

The third car will appear at the season highlight in France wearing the blue-coloured livery of Chip Hart Racing – the fictional team helmed by actor Brad Pitt in the Apple Original Film ‘F1® The Movie’, which is slated for a worldwide release from 25 June.

In the film, Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) drives Chip Hart Racing to victory at the 24 hours of Daytona after being coaxed back to motorsport for one last shot at glory. Pitt’s character is seen returning to racing 30 years after being in a near-career-ending crash that destroyed his hopes of Formula One stardom.

The film, which also stars Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia and Javier Bardem, was shot during real Grand Prix weekends and at last year’s 24 Hours of Daytona, where Chip Hart Racing participated via the Porsche customer team Wright Motorsports to capture authentic real-race footage.

As part of promotional activity ahead of the release of ‘F1® The Movie’, Porsche and Apple Original Films decided to bring the action to Le Mans, partnering with Manthey to field one of their three Porsche 911 GT3 R cars in the 24-hour event with a driver team consisting of Antares Au (Hong Kong), Austrian Klaus Bachler and Dutchman Loek Hartog. The crew earned their place on the starting grid at Le Mans by winning the Asian Le Mans Series.
