Round 2
In both races, the 20-year-old started from pole position. “An outstanding weekend! To start the season with a full harvest of points is a terrific result. Spa-Francorchamps is one of my favourite racetracks, so I was eager to clinch a perfect result with a double victory this weekend,” says Heinrich. His teammate Morris Schuring (Netherlands) and Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied-Racing) claimed the other two podium spots at race two of the season. Thirty-two drivers tackled the doubleheader run as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC support programme in their 375 kW (510 PS) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup vehicles.
Heinrich dominated the field over the entire distance. After the start, the racing driver from Germany’s Würzburg gradually pulled clear of the pack lap by lap to take the flag with a 1.4-second lead over Schuring. Second place on the 7.004-kilometre racetrack went to the Dutchman from the Talent Pool programme. “After missing out on the podium on Friday, I’m delighted that it worked out in Saturday’s race. My start was good and that proved decisive because it enabled me to beat Larry ten Voorde to the first corner and gain one position,” the 17-year-old says about his best result so far in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.
Bastian Buus turned heads with several impressive overtaking moves. Driving for Allied Racing, the Dane took up the race from the sixth grid spot and advanced to position three. The key moment: in lap five, Buus swept past the Luxembourger Dylan Pereira (IronForce Racing by Phoenix) in the La Source hairpin. “Unfortunately, we only found an ideal setup for the second race. I was really fast initially and I was lucky that Dylan Pereira made a small mistake,” said Buus. The winners on the podium received their trophies from Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport and Oliver Köppen, Manager One-Make Series and GT Sport.
Fourth place went to Pereira. The other five places were occupied by a quintet from the Netherlands. Ten Voorde took the flag in fifth place ahead of Loek Hartog (Black Falcon), Rudy van Buren (Huber Racing), Jesse van Kuijk (Team GP Elite) and Lucas Groeneveld (GP Elite). Michael Ammermüller (Germany/SSR Huber Racing) finished in the top ten. In the ProAm class, Carlos Rivas (Black Falcon) scored a perfect double victory. On Friday, the Luxembourger came out on top against Jan-Erik Slooten (Germany/IronForce Racing by Pheonix) and Ahmad Alshehab (Kuwait/CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin).
“Sunny weather, 32 cars and two races on one of the most famous tracks in the world made for perfect conditions for our start to the season,” summarises Hurui Issak, Project Manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. “It was an excellent opening round and the event proved that we have a thrilling season to look forward to.”
The next two Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland races will run as support to the ADAC GT Masters. From May 20 to 22, the one-make cup will be contested at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria. Harald Proczyk will compete in front of home crowds. The driver from HP Racing International lives in the Austrian community of Apfelberg, just a few kilometres from the racetrack.

Round 1
Laurin Heinrich (SSR Huber Racing) has kicked off the new Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland season with a victory. The Porsche-Junior from Germany won the first race of the 2022 season on Belgium’s Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps ahead of Dylan Pereira (Luxembourg/IronForce Racing by Phoenix).
“My start wasn’t great but I managed to defend my position and keep my rivals at bay. I’m starting Saturday’s race from pole position as well and I’m keen to make this weekend perfect with a double victory,” says Heinrich. Defending champion Larry ten Voorde (Netherlands/Team GP Elite) finished third at the race contested as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship support programme.
Under blue skies and in temperatures of 18 degrees Celsius, polesitter Heinrich took up the race at the wheel of his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The 20-year-old from Germany’s Würzburg region got the jump off the line and promptly put several car lengths between him and his closest pursuers to ultimately score an emphatic victory after 14 laps. At the start, Pereira turned heads with a spirited charge on the 7.004-kilometre racetrack. The 24-year-old tackled the race from the fifth grid spot and, by lap two, had worked his way up to second place. “I got a puncture in qualifying so I started the race on the fresh set of slicks. That gave me an advantage in the first laps so I made the most of it. At one point I managed to close the gap slightly to Laurin Heinrich but I couldn’t really catch him,” admits Pereira.
Ten Voorde initially gained one position after the start with an overtaking manoeuvre in the La Source hairpin only to lose it to Pereira shortly afterwards. “I’m satisfied with the result. Towards the end, I was really fast and if I’d had a few more laps I might have been able to overtake Dylan Pereira,” says ten Voorde. As the best driver from the Talent Pool – the youth development initiative of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland – Loek Hartog (Netherlands/Black Falcon) finished in fourth place. His fellow countryman Morris Schuring (SSR Huber Racing) also secured a spot in the top five.
Michael Ammermüller (SSR Huber Racing) concluded his first Carrera Cup race since 2019 in sixth place. Following the German over the finish line were Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied-Racing) and Max van Splunteren (Netherlands/Team GP Elite). Carlos Rivas (Luxembourg/Black Falcon) clinched victory in the ProAm classification. The reigning ProAm champion took the flag ahead of Jan-Erik Slooten (Germany/IronForce Racing by Phoenix). Ahmad Alshehab (CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin) celebrated a premiere with third place in the ProAm class: This is the first time a racing driver from Kuwait has climbed the podium in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.
Race two of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland gets underway on Saturday at 10:55 am local time. The German free-TV channel NITRO televises the race and the pre-race report from 10:45 am.

The preview
The long wait is over for Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland (PCCD) fans: from 5 to 7 May, the Porsche one-make cup heads into its 33rd season on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). The doubleheader event run as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC support programme promises to be a spectacular start to the season. With a total of 32 drivers in their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the grid is at capacity. Fans can watch the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland live on the German free TV station NITRO. RTL Deutschland joins the series this year as the new TV partner.
“A packed grid and 16 races in five countries provide the perfect ingredients for a thrilling season,” says Hurui Issak, Project Manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. “The pre-season test at the Nürburgring underlined how competitive it is at the top. We welcome NITRO as our new TV partner, who has already demonstrated its motor racing expertise with the live broadcasts of the ADAC GT Masters and the Nürburgring 24-hour race.” After the opening round at Spa-Francorchamps, the action continues until October with six events alongside the ADAC GT Masters and one with the DTM.
Defending champion Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite) is on the hunt for records this year. In 2020 and 2021, the Dutchman claimed the championship title – no other driver has won three titles in more than 30 years of the one-make cup. However, he faces stiff opposition, particularly from Porsche-Junior Laurin Heinrich (Germany/SSR Huber Racing), the 2021 winner of the rookie title, Loek Hartog (Netherlands/Black Falcon) and Britain‘s Lorcan Hanafin (Fach Auto Tech), the vice-champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain. The youngsters will come up against two experienced competitors: Dylan Pereira (IronForce Racing by Phoenix) from Luxembourg made his Carrera Cup debut in 2016 and last year contested the ADAC GT Masters and the FIA WEC, among others. Michael Ammermüller (Germany/SSR Huber Racing), the three-time overall winner of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup (2017-2019) and 2020 champion of the ADAC GT Masters, celebrates his Carrera Cup comeback.
In addition to the driver’s classification, racers also chase points and prize money in the rookie and ProAm classes. Eight talented youngsters from five countries fight for honours in the rookie classification. 21-year-old Ariel Levi (Huber Racing) is the first driver from Israel to contest the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. For Carlos Rivas (Black Falcon), 2022 marks his sixth season. In the last three years, the Luxembourger won the ProAm title and is keen to extend his record of the most race victories (39 wins) in his category.
Fans can again follow the race action of this year’s Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland on German free TV. The television channel NITRO broadcasts all races of the ADAC GT Masters weekends live and complements the races with extensive preliminary reports. The races are aired on Saturdays and Sundays straight after the GT3 series from 2.30 pm. All 16 races can be seen live or viewed on-demand afterwards on RTL+, Germany’s leading streaming platform. Moreover, the news channel ntv offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the racing series in five episodes of “PS – Porsche Carrera Cup“. All rounds will also be streamed live on the Porsche Carrera Cup Youtube channels and the Porsche Motorsport Hub.
Teams and drivers can expect an exciting doubleheader event. Measuring 7.004 kilometres, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is the longest circuit on this year’s calendar. The storied racetrack in Belgium’s Ardennes region is made up of long straights and spectacular corners such as the famous Raidillon/Eau Rouge and Blanchimont passages as well as the La Source hairpin. The first Carrera Cup race of the new season gets underway this Friday at 5.20 pm local time. Race two starts on Saturday at 10.55 am and will be televised live by NITRO.
