Porsche significantly expands charger access with NACS/J3400 adapter program

Customers will soon have access to over 23,500 new chargers in North America.

Canadian Porsche owners will soon be able to take advantage of an additional 23,500 chargers in North America with a North American Charging Standard (also known as NACS/J3400) to CCS1 adapter used for DC fast charging. It enables Porsche owners to charge their CCS equipped Taycan and Macan Electric models at DC fast charging stations equipped with NACS/J3400 compatible cables, including select Tesla Superchargers.

How to receive the adapter

Going forward, all new Model Year (MY) 2026 Porsche Taycan and Macan Electric models will include the adapter at no additional charge. Current owners of Macan Electric as well as MY 2025 Taycan are eligible to receive a complimentary adapter. A notification regarding availability and how to reserve this adapter will be sent to them shortly via their My Porsche email address. Owners of MY 2020 to 2024 Taycan models can elect to purchase the Porsche NACS DC adapter from the Porsche Online Shop and at local Porsche Centres starting today. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the adapter is $250. This device is rated for up to 1,000 volts and 430 amps, to help ensure compatibility with fast-charging Porsche models. The adapter has been tested and certified to meet UL-2252 standard, and it comes in a bespoke protective case.

How to use the adapter

Customers connecting to a NACS charger will need to take two simple steps – the first being to download and register on the Tesla app to activate Tesla Supercharger stations. Next, they will use their new Porsche NACS DC adapter to connect to the charging station cable before it can be plugged into the vehicle. When using the adapter at 400-volt NACS stations, such as Tesla Superchargers, Macan Electric owners can expect a maximum charging speed of up to 135 kW. All MY 2025 Taycan and newer as well as 2020-2024 MY models equipped with the DC Booster can reach up to 150 kW on these chargers. MY 2020 to 2024 Taycan models without the booster will peak at 50 kW when using the adapter.

Charge-planning software

All MY 2026 Taycan and Macan Electric variants will come with the necessary navigation features to incorporate the location of additional chargers. Macan Electric up to MY 2025 will receive this software update before the end of the year, while MY 2025 and earlier Taycan variants will receive their upgrade thereafter. All charge-planning software updates will be complimentary.

‟Porsche is committed to both choice and ease of use when it comes to electric vehicle charging,” said Trevor Arthur, President & CEO of Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. ‟We are delighted that through this adapter program we can help our customers find additional convenient places to charge.”
