Supervisory Board member Weresch relinquishes mandate after 25 years

Werner Weresch, a member of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG for many years, is retiring on 30 September 2022. Weresch – a qualified mechanic – was most recently Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board. In the future, Jordana Vogiatzi will perform the function of Deputy Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board.

For nearly 25 years, Weresch was a decisive influence on the work carried out by the Board. The former Chairman of the Works Council in Zuffenhausen and former General and Group Works Council Chairman was first elected to the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG's legal predecessor on January 23, 1998.

“Werner Weresch is a decent man,” says Dr Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG. “He presents his point of view openly while remaining fair and respectful, and never loses sight of the well-being of Porsche employees and the success of our company. On behalf of the whole Supervisory Board, I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to Werner Weresch. He was and remains a Porsche man through and through. With his knowledge and passion he enriched and shaped the work of the Board. He was there in the hard times, and together with us he laid the groundwork for Porsche to be in the excellent position that it finds itself in today. We wish him the very best, and a very relaxed and fulfilling retirement.”

Weresch began his career at Porsche on 20 August 1984. Initially he worked in the final assembly and post-production areas. After this he was involved in testing and acceptance drives for prototypes and specialised vehicles. On many occasions he was sent to Charleston, in the US, to carry out the inspections of new cars exported to North America. Weresch also fulfilled a similar recurring role in Reading, in the UK, performing vehicle inspections for the British market.

Chairman of the Executive Board Oliver Blume has thanked Weresch for his many years of commitment: “On behalf of the entire company we express our heartfelt thanks for the constructive collaboration. Werner Weresch is a dyed-in-the-wool Porsche man who embodies the values of our corporate culture. He fought for what he believed in with his heart and soul, and with team spirit. He and his team are among the reasons why Porsche is now such as successful company.”

Weresch joined the Works Council in 1990. In 2011 he became Deputy Chairman of the Works Council in Zuffenhausen. From February 2019 he was Chairman of the Works Council in Zuffenhausen, Chairman of the General Works Council of Porsche AG, Chairman of the Group Works Council of Porsche AG, and a member of the Group Works Council of Volkswagen AG. In my opinion, this combination makes her ideal for the position,” says Weresch. “I wish her every success in her new role. I’m certain that she will continue to measure up to her great responsibility for this fantastic Porsche team in the future – in collaboration with her colleagues on the Supervisory Board, whom I also wish to thank for their excellent work.”
