Editorial: Extraordinary Moments

The Porsche brand’s iconic sports car has always embodied outstanding performance, maximum comfort, and extraordinary moments. From the 911 and Cayenne to the Taycan, all of our models are attainable dreams, whether gas-powered, hybrid, or electric.

In 1974, Porsche founded its own motorsport school, where customers can experience the level of performance of our vehicles. Over time, the school has evolved into the Porsche Experience. We make dreams come true all over the world, whether on racecourses, on ice, or on spectacular winding roads. The response to the diverse range has been enormous. In fact, around 10,000 Porsche drivers took part in the Track Experience alone last year. This issue of Christophorus celebrates the 50th anniversary of the event series.

We take a journey to Formula 1’s legendary Circuit Paul Ricard track in Le Castellet, France, which hosts the Master GT3 RS, a practical training course for ambitious drivers, as part of the Porsche Track Experience. Here we have the opportunity to experience the motorsport atmosphere firsthand, get together with Le Mans champions Timo Bernhard and André Lotterer, and observe the breathtaking performance of the 911 GT3 RS (992).

In the dossier, we also delve into the history of the motorsport school and take a closer look at the current event range worldwide, all the while focusing on the term Track Experience. After all, Porsche models continue to make racing history even outside of this world of experiences, whether it’s a 911 GT3 Cup in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America or a Taycan Turbo GT as a safety car in Formula E. This year, Pascal Wehrlein clinched his first-ever world championship title for drivers in the all-electric racing series on behalf of the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team.

We also experience elite sport and Porsche DNA in Los Angeles when we get together with Shohei Ohtani and the new Taycan. The Japanese-born athlete is the absolute superstar of Major League Baseball (MLB) in the US and a huge fan of the sports car brand. As the only two-way player in MLB, Ohtani excels at both pitching and hitting and is entirely in a league of his own.

The city of Dubai, which is where our roadbook begins, also embodies superlatives. With the world’s tallest building, the 828-meter Burj Khalifa, in our rear-view mirror, we embark on a journey that will take us through all seven emirates, with their tangible history, uninhabited deserts, and urban elegance. Impressive.
