Number Six Porsche 963 finds podium at Long Beach to hold IMSA point lead

Porsche Penske Motorsport earned a hard-fought podium in Saturday’s 100-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race on the streets of Long Beach.

LONG BEACH, Calif. Porsche Penske Motorsport earned a hard-fought podium in Saturday’s 100-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race on the streets of Long Beach. The No. 6 Porsche 963 of Laurens Vanthoor and Kévin Estre finished third, just in front of the No. 7 sister car driven by Felipe Nasr and Julien Andlauer. The strong finish keeps Nasr, Andlauer and the No. 7 squad in the championship lead after three rounds.

Lauren Heinrich and Tijmen van Der Helm finished sixth in the No. 5 JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963, the only LMDh prototype run in the series by a customer team. Heinrich co-drove the No. 7 963 in the opening two rounds at Daytona and Sebring, and now sits second in points, 35 behind Nasr and Andlauer.

In the GTD class, the No. 117 AO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Harry King and Mikkel Pederson finished 13th, while the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Adam Adelson and Callum Ilott finished 15th.
