Porsche extends IMSA winning streak to four at Laguna Seca with GTP, GTD Pro wins

Porsche Penske Motorsport swept the top two positions in Sunday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race for the third consecutive race, but this time the No. 6 Porsche 963 driven by Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell finished just ahead of the No. 7 sister car driven by Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy. AO Racing’s No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R earned the GTD Pro victory in the race, which ran without any caution flags, at Laguna Seca Raceway.

The overall victory is the fourth in four races for the Porsche 963 to clinch victory following wins at Daytona, Sebring and Long Beach. The No. 7 car won each of the first three races. Heinrich and Bachler’s AO Racing 911 GT3 R won for the second consecutive time in the GTD Pro class following a victory at Sebring.

Tandy and Nasr keep their hold on the GTP Drivers’ championship, with Campbell and Jaminet in second place. Porsche extends the lead in the GTP Manufacturers’ point race with the victory.

The No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R of Wright Motorsports, driven by Elliott Skeer and Adam Adelson, finished sixth in the GTD class.
