Thomas Preining has been a permanent member of the Porsche driver team since 2017. The Austrian can look back on numerous successes in his still young sporting career: after kart racing, he entered the ADAC Formula 4 Championship, before switching as a Porsche Junior to the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in 2017.
There he drew attention to himself in his very first year with a second-place finish in the rookie classification. In the 2018 season, the youngster drove to a commanding championship success with ten wins during the season. Preining also impressed in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup: together with champion Michael Ammermüller, he helped the Lechner Racing team achieve the teams' championship title and placed third in the driver classification. In 2019, Preining has driven as a Porsche Young Professional for the Porsche customer team Gulf Racing in the FIA WEC (GTE-Am class) and took part in ADAC GT Masters for Herbert Motorsport. He finished fourth in each of the 6 Hours of Fuji, the 1000 Miles of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, together with his fellow drivers. After joining the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team as a test and development driver, he is now entering new territory in Formula E.
Porsche has again finished on the podium with both 911 RSR at round two of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
